Lake District Walks and Walking Tours
The Eagle & Child is extremely well situated as a base for Lake District walks, exploring the Lakeland fells, and more. High Street, Kentmere, and the Eastern fells are the nearest, but the rest of the Lakes is only a short drive away.
If you like the high mountains, then try such challenges as the Fairfield Horseshoe, the Kentmere Round or the Helvellyn Ridge. At a more sedate pace, there are many low level walks and rambles in and around the village, all with breathtaking views of the higher fells.
Most of the Lakes are only a very short drive away and many have wonderful walks around them. Why not escape to the more tranquil parts and relax by the water’s edge.
Alfred Wainright himself spent a lot of time in this part of the Lakes. Within walking distance is one of his favourite spots, Orrest Head, just above Windermere. It’s only a few miles from us – you’ll not be disappointed with the spectacular views.
Lake District Guided Walks
We can also arrange for a guide to accompany you on your
